Tales from the tea road
The Summer Solstice is an important time for the halflings of the Teagrove Shire. The Midsummer Festival is the largest celebration of the year. Bonfires are lit as effigies to the sun, and leapt over to prove courage and ward off misfortune for the year. Sweethearts slip away to plant tea clippings in secret places, with the belief that if their plant survived the stress of the sultry summer heat, so would their love. A grand communal picnic is held at midday, with pickled and cured fish, potato dishes, and fresh fruits. But when the sun sets, that is when the halflings set to work. In the glow of twilight the hin wander the woodlands collecting wild herbs and spices. The teagroves are harvested in the days that follow. On these longer days, the magical properties of these plants are enhanced due to their prolonged exposure to the sun's radiance.
